Hello,

This week we have seen the arrive of our glass products from the lovely Vanja at Roxtar Glass. These products will be available through our website later this week.

What a week we have seen! The trams have increased their running times to later in the day now as the days are getting longer and the weather becoming warmer as summer approaches.

We are looking forward to our new cinema complex opening next week, just in time for the school holidays.  Our new library not long after.  Exciting times ahead for our little city.

Today our city put on free buses for everyone!  How wickedly cool is that!  Town was alive with people and we also have the Extravaganza Fair happening in Manchester St and also a concert tonight. We have been treated to the band warming up all afternoon - they sound awesome!

On that note, I hope your weekend is just as awesome as here in the city centre!

What a fun place our little street is!

What a fun place our little street is!

Kia ora koutou katoa, (Hello to you all)

Over that last week, we have seen a massive change int he atmosphere in town.  The weather has been stunning - and today - its a balmy 20 degrees!

The new show - Les Misérables is starting tonight at The Isaac Theatre Royal - what a buzz this brings to our beautiful little street!  Last night we were treated to  students performing classical music outside our shop!

We are fortunate that our city centre has some major rebuilds completed and ready for opening at the end of this month.

In summary, our little street is alive and buzzing - and you are welcome to come and join us for some fun!

Nāku noa,

Rachelle

Is it too soon to talk about it?

Spring is here!

Hi there,

Well spring is here at last!  We have been very busy in store preparing for the season ahead of us!  New products are arriving almost daily.

The Christchurch Word festival has been keeping us very busy - we even have our own local writer in store - Tracy Chollet.  Our window has been dedicated solely to honer her book for the festival. If you happen to be passing, please stop and have a look.

Coming together

Coming together

Well...this week has been a very busy week for the gallery.  We have had the pleasure of Asheley Elisabeth visiting and bringing us two stunning pieces of her art and installing them in our gallery.

Every day new boxes show up and opening them is like Christmas!  They are filled with lovely new goodies for our shelves....

Let us know if you are looking for anything in particular - we now have many artists creating gorgeous unique gifts for our gallery shop and we can personalise a special something that means more than an "off the shelf" gift just from or for you!

See you soon,

Rachelle

Upstairs Art Gallery Now open!

Upstairs Art Gallery Now open!

Our Art gallery is now open!  Come and support our local artist by seeing the result of there extraordinary talents.

Currently we have:

Chainsaw Carvings by Steve - these carvings are incredible to view!  Kids just love them and adults are simply amazed by these unique sculptures. Steve is a very talented joiner for his day job, and by night he moonlights as a Sculptor.  His story and portfolio is available for you to read when you stop by.

Melissa Sharplin - Two limited edition landscape prints of Central Otago. We are very fortunate to be sharing her art with you. Melissa is based in Wanaka and is originally from Christchurch.

Pete Prue Photography - Pete has a long history of photography and his skill is undeniable in his exhibition. One not to be missed.

Lorretta Sloan - Felted Wool Macrame. Loretta has been creative. In her early teens she was lucky to begin a career at Ashford Handicrafts, starting afterschool, then full-time – where she worked until her mid-twenties. She learned to spin, weave, felt, dye, and everything to do with textiles. “I was exposed to crafts on a daily basis, and that really was where my journey began.” I will leave it here for Lorretta...she is an amazingly talented, world renowned designer, and I'm sure at some point in the future, we will get the opportunity to see some of her other talents in action.

Faye Lammers - mixed media Artist. The "Lichfield" series was inspired originally by the artists father's occupation as a financial manager in the textile industry.  Very interesting and a great example of mixed media art.

And...as an added bonus...all works on show are available for purchase!

I know...thats fantastic!

Our Store - Shop and Art Gallery

Our Store - Shop and Art Gallery

Hi again,

This whole concept started because of my love for our country. I loved to photograph our stunning landscapes.  I purchased my first DSLR many years ago and set about learning how to use it correctly. I enrolled in course after course and my love for photography and our country got deeper.  Daniel, Sam and I headed off every chance we could to explore our country. I decided to start selling my landscapes. Surprisingly, they sold well. Then one day, walking down this beautiful little street, a for lease sign grabbed our attention. We decided to add to the range and sell handcrafted products, designer fashions - all handmade to showcase that New Zealanders do have unique talents, and that our visitors can find products that can't or won't be copied on a large scale. And that they are taking home a piece of New Zealand, that no one else will have.  Its theirs and theirs alone to enjoy....

If you are about on Saturday, pop in and see our Art Gallery, now open. More on the Artists coming soon. Have a nice weekend.
